Mowing and caring for the lawn
Take extra good care of your lawn in autumn!
With the rain and cold, your lawn gets extra hard work during the autumn and winter months.
Below, we give you some good tips:
Keep the lawn leaf-free as much as possible
It is best to schedule the last mowing in mid-late October or early November
Don't cut the grass too short!
If the grass stays a little longer, it will keep moss and weeds out because grass absorbs sunlight... :)
If there are bare spots in the lawn, sprinkle in some grass seed to fill it in
Care for the birds in your garden
Shop a cute bird feeder in advance!
Hang a bird feeder house on.
Before the real winter sets in, you have a feeding place for the birds in your garden.
Make the veranda or canopy extra cosy!
With a few small adjustments, you can give your veranda or canopy a lovely warm look!
You can put down some good waterproof cushions on which you can use sheepskins or a cool blanket.
Put a few garden candles in the ground or in a pot and light them at dusk.
This gives extra atmosphere!
You can also set up a VUUR LAB. outdoor cooking stove.
The chimney pipe can also be extended. Please enquire about the possibilities.
Move plants, plant bulbs
Regular rainfall keeps the soil well moist during autumn.
As autumn is often not yet cold, this season is ideally suited for planting bulbs for spring.
Do so no later than October!
Putting bulbs in the ground at this time of year will strengthen them before winter sets in.
Have fun with plants!
Kitchen garden season
In September and October, you don't have to work alone to get the garden ready for autumn:
For lovers of home-grown vegetables, autumn is the perfect season!
Endive, winter carrots, spinach and lamb's lettuce are fine to grow now.
Garden cress is also good to sow now.
Setting up a fire pit for autumn and winter
Make a nice place to enjoy a campfire together!
You can choose to work with a fire bowl, but you can also make a hole in the ground yourself
and gather some stones around this in a circle and create a fire pit here.
