The advantages of brewing coffee with a percolator
You're like a real barista: With a percolator, you are actively involved in the coffee-making process.
Unique coffee flavour: provides a rich, full-bodied flavour.
Sustainability: needs no electricity.
Compact and portable: Perfect for at home, by a campfire, at the campsite or during a picnic.
Classic: it has a special look and a piece of history.
Affordable: a percolator is relatively cheap compared to other coffee makers.
How do you use a percolator?
Before first use, rinse the percolator well with hot water, make 1 brew of coffee and discard.
Fill the lower part/reservoir to just below the valve with cold water and fill the filter with coffee, no pressing is necessary.
Place the filter on the reservoir, making sure there is no coffee powder on the edge of the reservoir.
Screw the top onto the reservoir and tighten it firmly, there will be great pressure. Note: do not use the handle to turn!
Put the percolator on the heat. Not too high! This makes for nice creamy/creamy coffee. Let the water come to the boil.
The coffee is now collected in the upper part. As soon as the espresso has 'simmered down', remove the percolator from the heat: do not leave the coffee on the heat, it will become unpalatable and very bitter
After use, unscrew the parts (again, do not use the handle and rinse everything with hot water, store the parts separately so the metal can dry properly).
Cleaning: wash with neutral liquid detergent. Avoid using scratch-causing agents and appliances, not in the dishwasher!
